Will we be able to drive cars in the future ?
Yes of course . Just cost more and if you are poor like us, you could down size to a smaller car, plantrips more carefully and use more/ insist on more public transport . Australia has lots of coal and if we start saving ( not while the share market is our favoured passion !=short trem gain long term pain ) , we may have some control over coal to oil or other effective fuel production system ( not sure which is best bet - possibly production of H2 using solar)see excellent discussion
Change is hard though isn't it unless you make it your choice .meanwhile don't panic or blame others .
High prices generally a good thing - for the moment ( sorry!)
Unfortunately not enough people in the world want to reduce their fuel consumption YET so if the goverenment can't persuade them, maybe the MARKET can help. ( there i have said the heretical word !)
